Got Questions? We’ve Got You.
What is Actually Modern™’s mouth tape and how does it work?
Our mouth tape is a sleek, hypoallergenic strip that goes right over your lips at night to encourage nasal breathing (yes — your nose does 90% of the heavy lifting while you sleep). By gently sealing your lips, you naturally keep your mouth closed, reduce dry mouth, minimize “snore-vibrations,” and wake up feeling more rested. Husband (with beard) approved.
Why use mouth tape for sleep or snoring?
Because mouth-breathing during sleep can lead to noisy snoring, dry mouths, low oxygen efficiency, and broken sleep cycles. Fix the “mouth open = yawn & dry mouth” pattern, and you upgrade your sleep game. Nasal breathing filters, warms and humidifies air better — and our tape helps you build that habit.
I have a beard (or stubble). Will it still stick?
Short answer: yes. Longer answer: Our adhesive is designed to deal with real-world facial hair — the co-owner’s beard is not just for show. Apply after you’ve done your evening skincare, press gently to ensure full contact, and sleep. If you’ve got super-thick chest-fan style beard, it might need a little extra press, but it sticks — promise.
Can I still wear lip-balm/night-cream and use the tape?
Yep. Apply your lip mask, balm or night cream first. Then apply the tape over your lips. It’s designed to adhere over moisturised lips and stay put. If you apply heavy balms, just make sure the edges are clean so the tape sticks well. Our other co-owner is a woman who loves her skincare routine... trust.
Does this tape work for diagnosed sleep-apnea or major breathing issues?
No — this is NOT a replacement for a CPAP machine or medical airway device. If your doctor has diagnosed you with significant sleep-apnea, upper-airway obstruction, or you’re under treatment, please consult your sleep-specialist before using tape. This is a wellness tool for generally healthy adults who mouth-breathe or snore, not a medical device.
How many strips are in the pack and how often should I use them?
Each pack contains 30 single-use strips — enough for most users to use nightly for a month. For best results, use each night to help build the habit of nasal-breathing during sleep. If you skip nights, your body may revert to old patterns — and that’s cool, just resume when ready.
How do I apply and remove it for the best results?
Apply: After your skincare, cleanse & dry lips, remove film from tape, gently press the strip horizontally across your lips, ensure edges are sealed.
Remove (morning): Gently peel from one side in the direction of hair-growth (if you have stubble), don’t yank. A little adhesive residue is ok — just wipe with a damp cloth.
Any side-effects or things I should know?
Our strips are safe for most users. But if you experience:
- Redness, irritation, discomfort — remove immediately and stop use.
- Severe nasal congestion / inability to breathe through nose — don’t use until you’re clear.
- If you’re claustrophobic around your mouth, using a strip might feel unusual the first few nights — you can acclimate by applying midway through sleep, or starting with partial use.
